Our story:
(We’d have to trace the idea back to 2015)
Hello! We are Daryl and Kelvin, and we are the co-founders of Uncommon Ground.
As close friends who have shared a sense of purpose and desire to work on something together, Uncommon Ground is our passion project and the result of our combined experience.
Through Uncommon Ground, we want to pass on everything that we have learnt so far to younger physiotherapists - as a clinician, as an individual with career aspirations, as a business owner, and as a human being dealing with all things that play a part in our work-life balance.
The early years:

Graduating as physiotherapists, we both dived into private practice straight away. And just like many others, it was all about surviving that massive learning curve: finding the correct diagnoses, organisational skills, coming to terms with “networking”, all while trying to navigate life as a young adult. This was also the time we shared a common vision that continued to grow our friendship:
“What if we could do something together, and put our passion and skills to good use?”
Growing as
professionals
We embarked on our individual journeys for some years. Daryl entered a business partnership very early on, managed a team of staff, and eventually founded a second business of his own in 2025. Meanwhile, Kelvin moved to the UK, spent time working with Team GB athletes and professional football clubs, before moving back to Melbourne in 2022 and starting his own physiotherapy clinic.
This was an important phase of our careers; it shaped us from “young and hopeful” graduates to insightful, mature individuals who are still passionate about shaping and contributing to physiotherapy and healthcare.

We never forgot about our hope of working together, and slowly, we put together everything we have learnt so that it may benefit upcoming physiotherapists. We came up with the name Uncommon Ground, and we knew it had to address this key question:
“Can we create a structure of our experience, so that any physiotherapist who is hoping to do something similar can benefit from it?”
And at Uncommon Ground, we think we have.
The era of
Uncommon Ground
At Uncommon Ground, you will be mentored by us.
We will guide you through tricky clinical cases and scenarios
Teach you how to build a client-base ethically and sustainably
Show you how to market yourself/your business effectively
Give you advice on how to map out your career in the next 5-10 years
We noticed that sometimes young physiotherapists can get lost within a private practice without adequate support (we’ve been there ourselves), and so we hope to bridge that gap - we’re not driven by “how many appointments you need to have per week”, so our advice can remain objective and honest.
